Building Leadership

Tara Walrod, Principal

Tara Walrod serves as the principal of Timber Creek Elementary and considers it an honor and privilege to lead the TCE community. She is committed to fostering a collaborative environment, being visible and accessible to students and staff, and continuing the school’s tradition of academic excellence.

Originally from Blue Mound, Kansas, Walrod holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Kansas State University. She is a National Board Certified Teacher and was recognized as a Kansas Master Teacher in 2013. With more than 20 years in education, her career began as a classroom teacher in the North Kansas City, Missouri, and Charlottesville, Virginia school districts. She later transitioned to the role of elementary school counselor in Blue Valley, serving students at Morse, Prairie Star, and Sunrise Point elementary schools before taking on the role of District Coordinator for Student Services.

Walrod served as assistant principal at Timber Creek for two years, where she was mentored by former principal Dr. Pamela Bakke. Her leadership is rooted in the belief that every student can reach their fullest potential and that strong leadership is built on the strength of the team behind it. She is grateful for the support of the dedicated teachers, staff, PTA, families, and students who make Timber Creek an exceptional place to learn and grow.

Walrod and her husband are proud Blue Valley parents. Their daughter graduated from Blue Valley West and is continuing her education at Kansas State University.

Holly Mosimann, Assistant Principal

Holly Mosimann is grateful to serve as the assistant principal of Timber Creek Elementary School. As an administrator and educator, Mrs. Mosimann is focused on creating a safe culture and climate, building strong relationships, and ensuring the engagement of all students in rigorous academic experiences.

While Mrs. Mosimann has lived in many places, Kansas has always been home. She is a graduate of Shawnee Mission East High School and Kansas State University. Along the way, she also earned her master’s in educational leadership from the University of West Florida in Pensacola. Over the course of her career as an educator, she has taught 6th-12th grade math and has been an administrator for students, Pre-K through 8th grade, in Texas, Florida, Washington, Virginia, and Kansas.

When Mrs. Mosimann is not at school, she spends time with her husband, Jim, and their three active sons. The boys are living their best sports-filled lives and Mrs. Mosimann loves watching them play. She also enjoys getting to see many TCE kids and families on the soccer and baseball fields as well. This year all three of their boys attend Leawood Elementary School and the Mosimanns could not be happier to be students, parents, and staff in Blue Valley!
